The Very Breast of DC.

In typical better late than never fashion, I read the second issue of Zatanna's new series this morning. One thing, or to be more accurate, two things kept jumping out at me at various junctures: Zee's boobies, placed by the artist and/or highlighted by the colorist to be the focal point of the composition. I guess the adolescent faction of the readership just will not be ignored.

Like Seinfeld so famously quipped, "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

Christ on a crutch. That's just sad.

I beg differ on one point, however: I don't think this can be laid at the doorstep of the readers. It's hardly like DC is conducting focus groups to arrive at its sexism and objectification. "If Zatanna were suffering chronic upper back pain due to glandular hypertrophy, would you be a) more likely or b) less likely to buy this issue?" This is Dini and Roux revealing their own adolescent issues, and no one at DC telling them to stop.

God save me from Adam Hughes wannabes.
