As I sit here in my air-conditioned home while the thermometer reads 90-plus degrees outside, listening to The Basement Tapes and drinking a Dew with ice, taking it all for granted, I read about the current difficulties in New York and elsewhere...and think that perhaps I do have one or two things to be thankful for. I suppose all I can do from hundreds of miles away is send out sincere hopes that they get that mess straightened out as soon as possible.

Elayne Riggs has written a interesting first-hand account of her experiences yesterday. I have a feeling there will be several of these all over the blogosphere in the next few days.

Heck of a way to spend "Fair and Balanced" day, isn't it?
